About the Author

Phil Fitzpatrick teaches writing and literature at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Virginia, Minnesota. Phil has taught students at every level, kindergarten through adult. He taught for fifteen years in Quaker schools in Delaware and North Carolina before returning to his home state of Minnesota, and served as Academic Director of the Duke University Young Writers Camp from 1982 to 1988. He has been awarded grants to study ethnic cinema by the Minnesota Humanities Commission and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He has published poetry and non fiction, and holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard, a master's degree in English from Middlebury, and is completing a second master's in liberal studies at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. Phil started playing golf seriously in the summer of 2001. "The best thing about practicing golf," he says, "is that unlike any other sport, you can practice it in your living room without having to use a machine and without breaking anything." He lives in Duluth where he writes, gardens, and still chases bogey.
